LEO- Publications & Presentations

LEO was invited to a Cool Science conference at UMASS Boston that combines Art and Science. Cool Science is a multi-city, multi-institution research project that investigated the ability for childhood art to communicate science of climate change to adults. They remarked about the uniqueness of LEO as compared to what they were doing. In their projects, students did not need the art to learn about climate change. Furthermore, students could learn about art without the topic. In their projects, the learning of science and art are independent from each other. A good artist might produce an effective communicator of science without knowing much science. In contrast, in LEO, the purpose for learning the engineering was to make the art, in addition to the art communicating fundamental science.  The art and science are co-dependent and intertwined.
